Sarah Enthuses WPH Young Sailors
6/15/2009
Olympic sailing champion Sarah Ayton entertained young sailors
of Weymouth and Portland Housing's (WPH) Kids Sail Free
project.
Sarah enthused the young sailors with how she started sailing at
a young age. She spoke about how she learnt to sail and the strict
routine she had to follow before going to the Olympics and wining
two gold medals.
Sarah said: "My dad knew someone who had a boat and so I gave
sailing a try. That was when I was about six and I've never looked
back. If I can do it, anyone can do it and I look forward to seeing
some stars of the future emerge through the WPH project."
The children then all pitched in with questions on what she had
to eat in China, her exercise regime and the famous people she has
since met.
WPH managing director Kevin Dey said; " Hearing Sarah's story is
a real inspiration and it just shows what can be achieved with a
bit of dedication and commitment. I must thank Sarah for taking the
time to talk to the next generation of potential Olympic
winners.
"I would also like to extend my thanks to Phil Samways of
Weymouth Sailing Club, for all his hard work in making this project
such a success."
